Network Security

For WordPress Multisite networks only. Enforce firewall and hardening policy across every subsite from one place, instead of configuring each site individually.

Network Security

This page is for WordPress Multisite only. If your site is a standard, single WordPress installation, this section doesn't apply to you, firewall and hardening are already configured per site on the Firewall and Hardening pages, and there's nothing further to set up here. Network Security exists specifically for a Multisite network administrator managing firewall and hardening policy across many subsites at once from the Network Admin dashboard.

Rather than visiting Firewall and Hardening separately on every subsite, Network Security lets you set policy once at the network level and either enforce it everywhere or push the main site's configuration out to every subsite as a starting template. Use it when individual subsites shouldn't be able to override central security policy, or when you want every subsite to start from the same known-good configuration.
